Investing in the Next Generation of Heavy Vehicle Technicians
At Meachers Global Logistics, developing future talent is a key part of our commitment to maintaining high standards across the logistics and transport industry. As part of this commitment, we are delighted to welcome Josh, who will be joining our Workshop team in September as a Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician (Heavy) – Level 3 Apprentice.
Touring the Motor Academy Bournemouth
In June, we attended the Paragon Skills Automotive Apprentice Open Day with Josh, giving us the opportunity to explore the training facilities and learning environment where he will begin his apprenticeship journey.
The open day took place at Motor Academy Bournemouth, where apprentices undertake both the theoretical and practical elements of their training. The visit provided an excellent insight into the academy’s approach to developing skilled automotive professionals and preparing them for careers in the heavy vehicle industry.
For Josh, it was a valuable opportunity to familiarise himself with the academy, meet the training team, and gain a better understanding of what to expect from his apprenticeship programme.
State-of-the-Art Workshop Facilities
One of the standout aspects of the visit was the academy’s impressive workshop facilities. Purpose-built to support every aspect of truck maintenance, vehicle servicing, heavy vehicle repair, diagnostics and automotive engineering, the workshops provide apprentices with access to industry-standard equipment and hands-on learning opportunities.
The facilities are designed to replicate real-world workshop environments, helping apprentices develop the practical skills and technical knowledge required to become qualified Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technicians.
Learning from Industry Experts
We were also highly impressed by the expertise and enthusiasm of the Paragon Skills team. Their passion for training the next generation of technicians was evident throughout the day, and their commitment to supporting apprentices through their learning journey was clear to see.
The knowledgeable staff play a vital role in helping apprentices gain the confidence, skills and qualifications needed to succeed within the commercial vehicle maintenance and logistics sectors.
From Work Experience to Apprenticeship
Josh’s journey with Meachers highlights the value of providing young people with opportunities to gain real-world experience and explore potential career paths.
Having completed a week’s work experience across the business last year, Josh gained first-hand insight into the diverse operations that make up Meachers Global Logistics. Exposure to different departments, including the Workshop, helped him develop a broader understanding of the transport and logistics industry and reinforced his ambition to build a career in vehicle maintenance.
His work experience placement ultimately led to his decision to pursue a Heavy Vehicle Technician Apprenticeship, and we are delighted to support him as he takes this exciting next step.
Looking Ahead to September
Following the visit to Motor Academy Bournemouth, Josh is even more excited to begin his apprenticeship and officially join the Meachers team.
Seeing the facilities first-hand and learning more about the programme has reinforced his enthusiasm for the role and the opportunities ahead. He is particularly looking forward to getting his hands dirty, developing new skills and gaining practical experience in vehicle maintenance, servicing, diagnostics and repairs.
Building Careers Through Apprenticeships
At Meachers Global Logistics, we recognise the importance of apprenticeships in developing skilled professionals for the future. By investing in training and supporting emerging talent, we are helping to address skills shortages within the transport and logistics sector while creating rewarding career opportunities for young people.
We look forward to welcoming Josh to the Workshop team in September and supporting him throughout his Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician (Heavy) Level 3 Apprenticeship.
