HGV Class 1 Driver – Tramping & General Haulage (Days & Nights)

Location: Nursling & Derby

Responsible to: Transport Manager

Competitive Pay Rate: Days £624.00 basic per week Nights £724.00 per week.

Full & Part Time Flexible Opportunities available for HGV Drivers.

We are a forward thinking haulage business looking for both full and part time employees both Class 1 driving.

We have opportunities for drivers who are looking for flexible working on tramping, days or nights during a week so we currently have flexible contracts available. Please contact us for further information.

We are located in both Southampton and Derby so please call us for further information as this is a fantastic opportunity to work for a major Haulage company. Meacher’s is one of the leading independent logistics providers of international freight and transport services in the UK.

Your application is important to us and if selected will arrange for you to meet the transport manager at the relevant depot.

Whether you are a relatively new driver or you are a long standing experienced driver, as long as you have the relevant skills and licences all drivers are welcome to apply for these roles.

Excellent communication skills and a fluency in English will be required as you will be in constant communication with our client’s customers and also other members of internal teams. It is essential you have the ability to demonstrate the highest level of professionalism at all times both internally and externally.

You must hold a British driving license, a valid CPC and Digi card and have no more than 6 points on your license with no previous DR or DD endorsements.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

  • Supervise the loading and unloading of the vehicle so that products are safely loaded and secured to minimise chances of damage.
  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Handle customer issues on delivery effectively.     
  • Contact Traffic Office for assistance as required.
  • Carry out deliveries in a timely and safe manner.
  • Drive the vehicle safely and in accordance with the law and SSOW.
  • Drive within the tachograph law and driver hours limits.
  • Look after the vehicle and ensure that it is not subjected to unnecessary damage.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the driving cab.
  • Comply with fuel directives from the traffic Department.
  • Ensure you comply with all of the company SSOW.
  • Report any accidents immediately and in compliance with the company’s accident reporting procedure.
  • Complete vehicle daily inspection sheet and return to the traffic office.

Hours of Work:

Full time – 48 hours Guaranteed

Warehouse Administrator – Derby

Reporting to the Depot Manager working in a small team providing warehouse (picking/FLT/stock management)  and administration (entering order details into our warehouse management system, and booking transport) duties to a key client

Location: Derby

Responsible to: Depot Manager

The Role:

  • Processing client orders accurately through the warehouse management systems
  • Picking orders – boxes up to 15kg
  • Despatching orders via carrier management systems
  • Liaising with a demanding client via email and telephone
  • Receiving and booking in deliveries
  • Inventory management- weekly stock counts and stock rotation
  • Re packing orders
  • Maintaining a clean and tidy environment
  • Other duties include covering warehouse and transport functions

 Skills and experience:

  • Previous warehouse and administration experience
  • WMS/Carrier management experience
  • Excellent customer services – must be able to build relationships internally and externally quickly
  • Able to multi task
  • Good IT skills
  • Good health and safety awareness
  • A fork lift licence (combi or counterbalance is preferable)
  • Own Transport

Hours 40 per week, 30mins break (needs to be flexible to cover other areas of the operation, hours are between 0730-1800

Late Shift Traffic Office Administration

(Competitive Salary Dependant on Skills & Experience)

Location: Nursling, Southampton

The role:

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is an experienced administrator, customer facing hands on focused individual looking to join and work within our team of professional’s staff in a very busy Traffic office environment. You will need to be a highly motivated with a proactive attitude and a right first time approach with the ability to thrive in this fast paced environment. In addition to this you will need to have a very hi level of attention to detail and be PC literate with data input skills.

Key Tasks

  • Dispatching and debriefing drivers.
  • Amending the routing plan as required on a day by day basis.
  • Answering the telephone liaising directly with driver, colleagues and customers to ensure that services are delivered efficiently and effectively.
  • Investigating and problem solving.
  • Monitor empty mileage.

Person Specification:

  • Problems solving.
  • Generation of Tacho infringements.
  • Driver fines and parking infringements.
  • Controlling the Sub contractor preferred supplier data base to ensure compliance.
  • Log and Administer Insurance claims.
  • General Traffic Office Administration Support.

In order to be successful in this position you will need previous Administration experience, have a can do attitude along with the desire to succeed. You will need to be self-motivated, confident, proactive and strategic in your approach, as well as having good communication skills via all mediums written telephone computer etc.

Hours of Work:

Between 16.00hrs & 02.00hrs however you will need to be flexible with your working hours

HGV Class 2 Day Driver – Position filled

Location: Eastleigh

Responsible to: Transport Manager

Meacher’s are excited to be recruiting for HGV Class 2 Drivers, an opportunity also exists for a 7.5 tonne driver to work in a busy large distribution depot working out of Eastleigh, and the roles available are for permanent full-time positions.
Your main duties will include delivering and collecting palletised goods to and from Commercial, Retail, Manufacturing and Industrial businesses in the local area and this work can be physical, at times.

We operate Monday to Friday with the odd Sat am, start times between 05.00 am and 07.00 am & and finish times may vary according to the start times.
Drivers be required to be flexible within these times.

Applicants should have a minimum of 6 months experience and no more than six penalty points.

Full CPC and Digi Card.

Hours of Work:

48 hours Guaranteed however you will need to be flexible with your working hours.
