In association with UK Export Finance, the UK’s export credit agency and a government department, Meachers Global Logistics has hosted a series of seminars to help UK exporters understand some of the challenges involved in shipping goods abroad
The unique events combined experts in overseas market development and buyer identification, with specialists in risk management, finance and logistics.
Commercial Director of Meachers Global Logistics, Gary Whittle, said: “If you are planning to export goods or services from the UK to outside of the EU then the three key elements to success will be financing, logistics and sales. The events combined a useful session on each of these topics to ensure that people are aware of the risks and options available to them.”
Speaking at the seminar, Dominic Betteridge, Sales Executive of Meachers Global Logistics discussed the importance of efficient logistics models for UK exports, and the need for tailored Solutions, global network capabilities, and local knowledge. He also provided guidance on the documentary requirements for specific markets.
Andrew Whiteman, Export Sales and Marketing Consultant from OpenBridge Ltd covered issues including matching company goals with export opportunities, selecting markets, internal success factors and distribution channels.
Stuart Stoter, Export Finance Adviser of UKEF spoke about potential government support for access to working capital; the UKEF bond support scheme that can back export contract bonds issued by banks; protection against non payment through export credit insurance; and buyer and supplier credit facilities.
The first two (of a series of three) seminars took place at Meachers’ training facility in Southampton throughout July and August, with a final session taking place on 15th October.
