With new changes to import controls coming into force on 31 January, it’s important for businesses to prepare so that they remain compliant and avoid disruptions to their supply chain.
Here is an overview of the things being introduced, and steps you can take to help prepare and ready your business before the changes take effect.
Changes being introduced on 31 January 2024
- Health certification on imports of medium risk (animals, plants and plant products) from the EU
- Health certification on imports of high-risk food and feed of non-animal origin from the EU
- New checks and controls when moving Irish goods (i.e. any goods other than Qualifying Northern Irish Goods) from Irish ports directly to Great Britain
Steps you can take to prepare

- Ensure your EU supply chain is preparing to provide you with health certificates and/or phytosanitary certificates – learn more about this here
- Be ready to correctly submit your pre-notification in Import of Products, Animals, Food and Feed System (IPAFFS) – more guidance can be found here
