First Drivers Graduate from Meachers HGV License Upgrade Scheme

Following the introduction of a new scheme introduced by Derby based Meachers Global Logistics; the first two drivers have graduated from a novel HGV driver upgrade scheme

The Initiative by Meachers Global Logistics employ Class 2 drivers then facilitates and funds the process through to class 1 status.

Meachers has partnered with training firm S-G Transport Training & Logistics and specialist transport recruitment firm JT Recruit, to identify drivers with a current HGV 2 license and offer them the opportunity to undergo full professional training to achieve their HGV 1 license.

The industry leading training course, would normally cost up to £2,000.

Commenting on the training programme, Mark Caswell said: “The offer of free training with a guaranteed job at the end presented an excellent opportunity for me. The course only took 5 days to complete, but it has now given me the skills I need to take my career to the next level driving HGV class 1 vehicles.”

Commercial Director at Meachers Global Logistics, Gary Whittle, said: “Derby is an important hub for the transport sector and we expect to see continued growth in this area in 2015.
