Meachers has a long and proud history
Meachers Global Logistics originated as a family owned coal business in the late 1940’s. Following diversification into general Haulage, a Limited Company, Meachers Transport was formed in 1958. This newly formed Company handled mainly dock related products with further diversification into warehousing and UK manufactured products followed.
Successful strategic acquisitions and organic development produced large growth for the Company during the 1970’s. This substantial change occurred when Pirelli General acquired the business due to winning a contract to provide submarine cable to the CEGB.
In the 1980’s a number of Companies were acquired, including KL Commercials, a Truck Franchise, and Oast Agencies. They offered the Worldwide movement of goods through air, sea and road services.
1996 saw a management buyout completed from the Pirelli Group returning the Company to private ownership, which continues to the present day. In the same year, a further operating centre opened in Derby providing further facilities and acting as a hub to the northern part of the UK.
Meachers Global Logistics has been consistently listed in the top 100 companies in the Industry.
In 2009 the Company rebranded to Meachers Global Logistics, to better reflect the services offered. It has continued to provide a complete logistics solution, including international freight forwarding, transport and warehousing, to all sizes of companies, both in the UK and other parts of the world.
Meachers continues to be an integral part of their customers supply chain, highlighting cost savings, driving efficiencies and streamlining the supply chain processes and will continue to deliver excellence worldwide.
